Surya's brother's film to be dubbed in Telugu

Not many in our state are aware of the fact that Surya's brother Karthik is an actor in Kollywood.  His first film Paruthiveeran released in the year 2006 was a blockbuster.  He has grown in popularity and craze since.  Currently, he is shooting for a costly film, reportedly being made at Rs. 40 cr., which is directed by Sri Raghava (known as Selvaraghavan in Kollywood) of 7/G Brindavan Colony fame.

The film will release for the Pongal of 2010 in Tamil and Telugu.  Though the Tamil title has been decided (Aayarathil Oruvan), the Telugu title is yet to be finalised.  In fact, Raghavan has been working on the film since three years.  Hugely awaited by cinebuffs, the film has Reema Sen as the heroine.  Andrea Jeremiah is the other girl.

Produced by Ravindran, the film will be brought by G Kumar Babu of Amma Art Creations for release in Telugu.

For the Telugu audience, they are finally getting to see a Raghava film after 'Aduvari Matalaku Arthale Verule' with Venkatesh in the lead in 2006.  The talented maker has written the story and screenplay himself.

Let's see if Karthik becomes as popular as Surya in AP.

Has YVS lost Midas Touch?

After the release of Saleem, the question that boggles the mind of everyone is whether director YVS Chowdhary has lost his Midas Touch.  With 'Saleem' being universally reviled by film critics and cursed by the audience, the director has delivered two disasters in succession.

The 2008 legendary super flop 'Okka Mogadu', with Balakrishna in the lead, damaged YVS' image immensly.  The audience were numbed to see such a ridiculous film from the maker of films like 'Devadasu', 'Lahiri Lahiri Lahirilo', 'Seethayya' etc.

The hopes have been dashed yet another time.  His immediate film after 'Okka Mogadu', 'Saleem' doesn't boast of Chowdhary's signature style.  Poorly written and outrageously mediocre, the film is most likely to turn up as the year's biggest box office horror.

In this context, can we say YVS has lost his Midas Touch?  It will be too early to arrive at a conclusion.  For, a director who crafts an absurd one today could produce a thorough entertainer tomorrow.  Let's hope grounded YVS limps back in near future.
